Originally it is simply TEMPTATION. Here are its synonyms.
They call it the phuchka in Kolkata.
Delhi calls it the Gol Gappe.
In Haryana people call it Pani ke Patashe.
Some part of Eastern India calls it Gup Chup.
Some people call it Padaka, saluting to its bombastic-ness.
Phulki in Gujarat, Tikki in MP – all avatars of the temptress.
British stayed in India for 200 years but could find a suitable name for the phuchka, so they called it Water Balls!
Call it by any other name, it would always tickle my taste buds.
