Can you imagine hot summers without refreshing ice-cream? Amazingly ice-cream popsicles are a recent 20th century invention.
In 1905, 11 year-old Frank Epperson from San Francisco accidently invented what we today call ice-cream popsicles.
Frank left a mixture of powder flavored soda water with a stir stick in it out on the porch. It was a cold evening and it froze. This is where the idea of the frozen treat on a stick came up.
The popsicle word was born out of “lollypop” and “icicle” and it caught on. Thank God for summers and Epperson for his ice-creams popsicles!
